Knowledge is the important weight to survive in the knowledge-based society. The basic ability to survive is closely related to the autonomic learning ability, the continuous improvement of which is a necessary requirement of success. It becomes a very important issue by the case study of college students on the impact of factors of autonomic learning ability. It is very importantly significant that the sociologically empirical research is carried out on the autonomic learning ability of the college students in the respective of the Field-Habitus theory of Pierre Bourdieu.Autonomic learning ability is based on cognition, motivation and behavior of a self-directed, self-monitoring, self-regulated learning ability, which can be operationizated into five dimensions:self-directed, learning setting, learning method, self-monitoring and self-regulation.Questionnaire survey to collect research data is taken through the rigorous multi-stage sampling approach to select the students including graduate students in the Central South University. The autonomic learning scale of the college students after the item analysis has an acceptable reliability and validity. It is found that college students have yet to improve autonomic learning ability, and that the student personal habit of the learning ability have a great influence, then the field of autonomic learning especially the software field have some impact on the autonomic learning ability, but the students own personal background factors have less impact. Consequently, habitus and field factors have the major influence, and the theory of field-habitus can be a new tool to improve the research on the autonomic learning. In order to improve the autonomic learning ability of students, it is the most effective path to cultivate the habitus of autonomic learning. At the same time, some attention should be paid to improve the hardware environment, such as the classrooms conditions for self-studying, the library material, and the campus network environment. Of course, more attention should be paid to improve the software environment, such as the class style of study, the curriculum setting and the teacher's quality. |
