Leonid Maksimovich Leonov (1899-1994) is one of the most outstanding Russian authors in the history of Russian literature. The novel "Russian Forest" not only criticizes deforestation and the behavior of destroying the environment from the viewpoint of protecting forests and Mother Nature, but also, from the higher standpoint of philosophy, condemns the "slippery slope" of people's ethics and morality and expresses the author's deep awareness of ecological problems. This thesis attempts far-reaching research and complex analysis of the novel from the three aspects of ecological consciousness, ideology and ecological ethics. Thereby, it aims to demonstrate the author's strong consciousness of ecological hardship, studies the author's focus on potential and imminent danger and pays close attention to issues of ideology, ethics and morality. Subsequently, the thesis draws particular attention to the important position occupied by "Russian Forest" in the progressive development of Russian Ecological Literature and its guidance and enlightenment in current affairs.
