"Premières leèons de chinois(langue mandarine de pékin)" is Chinese textbookwritten by Arnold Vissère in the early 20th century. This essay tries to compare theChinese linguistic opinions of Arnold Vissère to the modern ones, and describe whatthe textbook is like in phonetic, grammar and how it learn from the others.First, we introduce the life of Arnold Vissère and some of the improtant bookswrittern by him. Then we review the blank space of the study in the history ofteaching Chinese as the second language.Second, the mandain in the "Premièresle?ons de chinois(langue mandarine de pékin)" basically equals to Putonghua atpresent. Totally, there are 26 initials and 39 finnals. After excluded "y, w, ng, ts', ts",the initial system is the same to the Putonghua's. And the finals system compared toPutonghua, include "io, iai", but not "ueng".It also get 4 tones.Third, Arnold Vissèredivided Chinese words into a scientific classification system.He uses the westerndescriptive linguistics to illustrates the grammar of Chinese spokesn language.Fourth,"Premières le?ons de chinois(langue mandarine de pékin)"is affected by manylinguists. In this chaper, we compare "Premières le?ons de chinois(langue mandarinede pékin)" to "Guan Hua Zhi Nan" written by Wu Qitai and Zheng Yongbang, as wellas to "YüYen Tsǔêrh Chi" writtern by Thomas Wade.The last Chapter is the conclusion. We sum up the characteristics of "Premièresle?ons de chinois(langue mandarine de pékin)" and tell the enlightenment of Chineseteaching.
