Liu Guan(1270-1342),a scholar in Yuan Dynasty,known as Liu Daochuan,also named Wu Shushan Ren,was from Pujiang county of Zhenjiang province.He once followed Jin Lvxiang,studying Confucianism,and then Fang Feng,Xie Ao and Wu Siqi for Literature.In the year of 1300,Liu Guan was recommended as professor of Jiangshan county;then in 1341,he was promoted as Daizhi of HanLin(a writer for the feudal Chinese government) also,he worked as the editor of the Guo Shi Yuan(the national history research bureau).After his death,He was addressed "Wen Su" respectfully by his students.Liu Guan was proficient in Confucianism,history and all schools of the literature at that time.He also exceeded in writing Regular Script,Seal Character and Zhoushu (a kind of character in Chinese calligraphy).He could also verify the authenticity of ancient sacrificial utensils and celebrated books and paintings.He was famously addressed as one of the Four Great Writers in Yuan Dynasty with Yu Ji,Jie Xisi and Huang Jin.Now,we have his writing named Liu Daizhi Collected works,including 20 volumes.Liu Guan was a well-known scholar and writer with great achievements and affects in Yuan Dynasty.His students,Song Lian,Wang Yi and Dai Liang,became three important writers in the early Ming Dynasty with his teaching.However,we don't have much research about him now in the literature filed.This essay is mainly about his poems and works,and I will show you about his family,the description of his life and his works through investigating quite a few works and books related to him of each period.Also,though the research about him, we can clearly know the time of when he wrote most of his works.
