Russell Designed Theoretical Studies

It is generally believed that the proper names are associated with the general names. Frege, who is recognized as the father of analytical philosophy, is the case; Bertrand Russell is the leader and follower of the analytical philosophy after Frege. Although a certain impact on Frege, Russell has left the well-worn research path in the theory of proper names. In Russell's opinion, when applying the method of symbolic logic, a proper name is the name of some object which is the most fundamental and reliable thing applying Occam's razor and adhering strongly to the principle of acquaintance. Russell is well-known as having a substantial writing life, but also ever-changing views. The view of the proper names is also the case. However, the change is well-organized. It is based on the principle of acquaintance and the ontology of logical atomism. In his early time, Russell formulates the standard for a sign to become a proper name. Then, Russell put aside the descriptions and the ordinary proper names, and recognized "this" as the real proper name. And at last, he thinks that a proper name can be replaced by the name of a bundle of qualities. This is the further carrying out of the principle of acquaintance. A proper name is corresponding to a simple object, and the analysis to things is carried out under the method of logic atomism. The simple object is the entity for the needs of logical analysis more than the existence of reality. This article intends as fully as possible to introduce Russell's view of the changing views about the proper names, and try to make an analysis on these changes.
