Process For The Protection And Development Of Weifang Traditional Kites

The kite in Weifang is a folk craftwork with a long history, which is well-known for its exquisite design, vivid image,voluptuous color and enriched native breath. During the long process of development, the manufacture of Weifang's kites has divided into two schools which include eleven branches. At the same time many excellent artists and representative works have emerged prominently, all of which play an important role in the kite circles. Since 1984, twenty international kite festivals have been successfully held in Weifang. By this way, the economic and cultural values have been deeply developed and shush a good example for the folk craftwork to exist and develop in modern society has been set up. But as a product of farming civilization, the development of the kite craftwork has to meet with some inevitable problems in the modern society where the market economy has been developed increasingly. Among these problems, how to comply with convention and how to break new ground are the prominent ones the development of Weifang kites has to face.This thesis, which aims to protect and develop the art of Weifang kites, is divided into five chapters, the contents of which includes Weifang kites'academic research conditions , history of development, techniques features and values, the protection and innovations.
