Both China and Japan are belong to the Chinese Character Culture Circle. From the view of the step of Chinese character forming, although Chinese and Japanese are different in language system, the forming of Japanese are deeply influenced by Chinese. Chinese character experiences a serials development after she enters Japan: Chinese character is totally input as foreign language—phonetic using Chinese character's pronunciation(phonetic character)—using Chinese character's meaning(meaning character)—imitating and transforming Chinese character come into being—kana mixed with Chinese character. From the introduction of the development of Chinese character in Japan, we can learn that the present Japanese language system is the mixture of kana and Chinese character.Chinese character is born in China and she is the foreign language source to Japan, she melts into Japanese local culture after the process of understanding, absorption and creating, this is the step how Japanese-Chinese character come into being. Also, the grown step of Japanese-Chinese character wears special consciousness and psychology of Japanese nation. Due to the island geographical environment of Japan, there are richer expression in fish's type than in China, then the native Japanese creat characters about fish except the migration from Chinese character. Most of these characters are constructed by fish character, and the origin of these characters, from China or Japan, is not affirmed. Also, the construction and pronunciation trait of there characters are not well investigated till now. This paper starts the work in the ancient Japan dictionary"SHINSENJIKYOU", compares the"fish character"in different era, analysis the shape, pronunciation, meaning of"fish character", study the Japanese character through a new angle, hope to comprehend the deeply meaning of property, trait, particularity of Japanese character. Moreover, we also hope to take this as the breakthrough point to discuss the Chinese character exchange and the intercourse between China and Japan.The structure of this paper as follows:The first part introduces the fruit and the question in the research of Japanese character.The second part introduces the ancient Japanese dictionaries which contains"fishcharacter"and the relation among these old dictionaries. The third part introduces how to investigate and the result, data, discussion of this paper. According to the data, we learn a lot about the construction, pronunciation, meaning and culturing connotation of characters with"fish character".Final part introduces the future question to be solved in the next research topic.
