Chinese And English "it" The Comparative Study

The Chinese pronoun'ta'("它")and English pronoun"it"have correspondent meaning, but the frequency of'ta'"(它") s much lower than that in English . People in Chinese academic world think the reason of high frequency of"it"is probably that"it"comes from English whereas'ta'("它") from China. Actually, About the usage of'ta'("它"), much of our cognition is limited to its function of person pronouns. For its regular usage pattern we still lack a comprehensive study.In order to make research about the regular pattern of'ta'("它") , The paper collects many typical examples used for the comparison from famous Chinese-English works. Two ways are used to analyze the difference between'ta'("它") and"it". One is about analysis of syntax, and the other is about discourse. In the comparison of syntax, analysis of the sentence constituent is done to show their different pattern. Comparison of discourse is also main content in the paper, the purpose of it is to prove the anaphoric and cataphoric function of"it"and the cataphoric Function of'ta'("它").
