Last century,chinese animation had made great achievements,with many films winning awards in the world like Danaotiangong,Nezhanaohai and Mudi.In the case of lagging in technology, pioneering anmimation artist in china tried their best to find the way of developing our domestic animation.They persisted in carryying forward traditional culture of China and finally produced a series of animations with great national characteristics.Since these works had demonstrated our traditional culture to the world by drawing on the traditional art of china, chinese animation was well-knowned as"Chinese School of Animation"for a long time. Since the beginning of the nineties, chinese animation tried hard to bring itself more to the world animation in the setting of market economy.The number of chinese animation is getting bigger while the quality improving is not much.The works during this period did not form their own independent style, but modeling blindly. Chinese animation began to lose their position in the world. Chinese animation must base on the Chinese local culture, make a deep excavation of the meaning of traditional culture of our country and establish our own style, to improve the chinese animation.(Introduction)The early Chinese animation works can base on local culture, reflect a unique national style, but they over-value the role of Fine Art and lose the artistic charm of the animation like move, artistic exaggeration and rich imagination;they just seem to make artistic works to move;their stories are all old;and they are weak in plot and character. Their greatest weakness revealed itself in those works created after 1990s :breaking away from traditionkal culture and art;lack of unique national style;the story is old; most of the work the old themes; subject expressing is blunt and superficial; and other issue in the film language and picture quality.(the first and the second part)It is the most important thing for the Chinese animation creating to base on traditional Chinese culture that is interpreted critically. On the expression of the subject, animation artists should interpret the main thought of traditional Chinese culture correctly and moderately - general thinking, harmony, harmony between man and nature, morals and ethic, embracing justice than benefit and working hard; and make correct understanding and interpretation national character and national spirit - positive attitude towards life, embracing integrity, moderation of the human way of doing things. These are good idea in itself which should be promoted, but it depends on how readers interpret it, if readers believe its too much and go to another extreme, the idea will play a negative role. So, we animation creators have to moderately in the interpretation of these ideas so that these thoughts could be able to have a positive impact on the audience. The Chinese traditional art has some basic characteristic :looking good as beauty, creating a mood, the pursuit of State of the Art, implicitly and expressionistic, and so on. Animation creators should base on these traditional Chinese Art Theory interpreted critically. Draw on the creation features of the traditional arts such as traditional paintings and Chinese folk music, and finally to create animation works in line with the contemporary.(the third part)Chinese animators should base on the traditional Chinese culture interpreted critically, but there is some other weaknesses which can not be solved only depending on it. We should also learn from the successful experience of the West as supplement . There are some some aspects that we could learn from the west: excavating their own traditional culture deeply, with its own unique style characteristics; right creative concept; audience positioning is accuracy, subject diversity; skilled film language and so on.( the fourth part)The contemporary Chinese animation creation should not only base on the Chinese traditional culture that has been illustrated critically, use the successful experience of the western animation selectively as a supplement, but also should be aware of the age,create new animation charactors combined with the aesthetic needs of contemporary people.That innovating from the tradition and flourishing the tradition thtough the innovation is the only way for the chinese animation to glory.
