"three Kingdoms" Is Synonymous With Once A Study

SanGuozhi is an important work of history which descripts the historical turmoil of three kingdoms period. The author ChenShou read lots of works of history when he was at his early age, so he was good at creating history books. The language of SanGuozhi is wealthy, and the vocabulary is rich, and the sentences are tidy. SanGuozhi is on behalf of the style of the language of three kingdoms period. Studying the language of SanGuozhi ,not only can help us know the picture of the language of Medieval period, but also has a positive effect for building the Medieval Chinese vocabulary.The synonym combination refers to the structure in which two or more than two words which have the same or similar meanings are used together, indicates a relatively comprehensive meaning and acts as a grammatical element in a sentence. The synonym combination is an important phenomenon in the ancient Chinese. Knowing its rules will play an important role in reading and noting ancient books, studying the meanings of ancient Chinese as well as the emergence of coordinate compounds.There are lots of synonym combinations in SanGuozhi.I want to analyse them according to the angle of synchronization in this paper. This paper has the following four parts.Chapter I is the brief introduction about SanGuozhi,its author , and what our predecessors have studied about SanGuozhi and the synonym combinations. And it also shows the objects, methods and significance of the study.Chapter II is the description of the standards of determining the synonym combination and the total condition of the synonym combinations in SanGuozhi. About the standards of determining the synonym combination, I will introduce the slight differences of the words which have the same or similar meanings at the aspects of semantics, grammar, or pragmatics. The synonym combinations of SanGuozhi can be divided into seven categories. They are verb,adjective, noun, pronoun, adverb, conjunction and preposition combinations.In Chapter III I introduce the characteristics of the synonym combination.Through the analysis and study, we find the following features of the synonym combination of SanGuozhi: the imparity of quantity, the friability of the structure, the flexibility of the combination, the integrity and regularity of meaning, the singleness of the grammatical functions, and the complexity of the semantic meaning structure. In the paper I quote lots of typical examples in SanGuozhi , the books in ancient times and the books of linguistics to analyse and demonstrate my views.Chapter IV introduces the reasons for forming the synonym combination as well as the function and significances of the synonym combination. The reasons why the synonym combination comes into being evolve the following aspects: the increase of the words and synonymous, the needs for expressing,people's associative psychology and the rhythm of Chinese. The function and significances of the synonym combination are to make the expression clearer and much more accurate, to coordinate the sentences and syllables in order to strengthen the momentum of them, to affect forming coordinate disyllabics, to influence the explanations of the words in ancient books ,studying the meanings of ancient Chineseand the codification of the dictionaries.
