The objective of this study was to understand the significant gender and grade differences on personality traits,communicative attribution and social adaptation in junior middle school students,and to explore the influence of junior middle school students' personality traits, communicative attribution to social adaptation.This research investigated 362 junior middle school students,and adopted questionnaires to study.The results were as follows:(1) There were significant gender differences in personality traits,self-esteem,social anxiety and misbehaviors among junior middle school students.There were significant grade differences in personality traits,communicative attribution,depression and academic problems among junior middle school students.(2)In success context,communicative attribution was negative correlated with neuroticism, and was positive correlated with other dimensions of personality traits,and was positive correlated with self-esteem,and was negative correlated with other dimensions of social adaptation.The correlation circumstance in failure context was contrary to that in success context.Self-esteem was negative correlated with neuroticism,and was positive correlated with other dimensions of personality traits.Depression,social anxiety and academic problems were positive correlated with neuroticism,and were negative correlated with other dimensions of personality traits.Misbehaviors were only negative correlated with agreeableness.(3)The different aspects of personality traits and different communicative attribution manners can predict different dimensions of junior middle school students' social adaptation.The dimensions of personality traits except neuroticism were the important predictor of junior middle school students' internal adaptation.The dimensions of personality traits except extroversion were the important predictor of external adaptation.In success context,dispositional attribution predicted internal adaptation,and external attribution predicted external adaptation;In failure context,dispositional attribution predicted social adaptation.(4) Personality traits and communicative can significantly predict social adaptation of junior middle school students,but social adaptation was mainly influenced by personality traits.There was significantly different influence between success context and failure context.In success context,agreeableness and neuroticism may indirectly influence external misbehaviors by EUC. In failure context,agreeableness and extroversion indirectly influenced internal adaptation by ISC.
