Hegel's theory of sense and perception is his demonstration or thought on sense-certainty(sense-consciousness) and perception. In order to obtain a full knowledge of Hegel's theory of sense and perception, this thesis begins with the background of its being put forward. Through combining the differences in method between"Phenomenology of Spirit"and"The Philosophy of Spirit", it demonstrates the theories of sense and perception in these two books in detail. His theories of sense and perception in these two books embody the difference between the unified methods of phenomenological method and dialectic in"Phenomenology of Spirit"and dialectic of spirit in"The Philosophy of Spirit", but these two methods both belong to the dialectic of spiritual notion. The principle of this dialectic that the logic and history are identical makes his theory of sense and perception have its corresponding parts in Hegel's other works. After the comparing his theory of sense and perception with the contempory theories of sense and perception such as Husserl's, Merleau-Ponty's, and Piaget's theories of sense and perception, we can see that, because of the dialectic of spiritual notion which it contains, Hegel's theory of sense and perception have its unique value which cannot be replaced.
