Qing is one of the most important categories in classical Chinese Aesthetics with its meaning and connotation very complicated.It has the quality of being neutralized of various ideology and the permeating into heterogeneous culture. This paper overall discusses the category of Qing in the logical and historical perspective,which includes identifying its invariable nature in different period and corresponding changes in semantic meaning,expatiating on Qing's aesthetic problem,analyzing the similarities and differences between Qing and other categories such as Jing,Dan,Yi,Yun.At last,the paper probes into the important role of Qing category in the history of Chinese aesthetics,researches on the phenomenon of Qing,which is influenced by the Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism and deeply decodes the essense of Qing,which is worthshipped by the Chinese.In contemporary society,the thought of Qing has the realistic significance of actualizing the rebirth of Chinese moral and faith,and offering a cogitation about reconstructing modern Chinese aesthetics and classical theories.
