In this thesis, with the methods of literature review and questionnaire to research the subjective well-being of the students major in music.Subjective well-being is the concept of the well-being defined by the psychologists with unique visual angle, that the evacuator accessed their life quality from the whole. Subjective well-being has a positive correlation with environment, health,leisure activities and the psychological quality such as personality traits, self pride and self-efficacy (SE). Previous research indicated the music has physiological function, interpersonal functions, and many other functions. College students major in music, as the group of going in for musical activities, have obvious distinctions from other individuals in the aspect of Personality Characteristics and self-pride. Owning to the above, the thesis supposes that the College students major in music have their features in their subjective well-being.In the thesis, the form of questionnaire is adapted to survey 222 students (non-musical students 189)at random in the city of Beijing and Harbin and the survey is developed from three dimensions: life satisfaction, positive emotion, and negative emotion. We can reach the conclusion about the subjective well-being of undergraduates who's major in Music from the research and analysis above .First of all, the subjective well-being of undergraduates who's major in Music Obviously improves after a long term music study, which mainly shows at the higher life satisfaction and less negative feeling. The reason come from the special properties Music activities, for example the groupment give them more opportunity for the interpersonal, through the relationship they get the more support from the society,, they will become more Optimism. On the other hand the way of study and the location are diverse, they have a bright target which offer them a sense of fulfillment and a sense of achievement. Further more, because if the basic requirement of the undergraduates who's major in Music, they are confidence, and the Music activities provide them a good way to restrain their emotion in order to balance their feelings.On the positive feelings dimensions, they do not show higher level. Although music gives them a comfortable and happy experience, they have to in the face of simple knowledge structure and flat ability to generate and use knowledge. The disadvantages restrict their emotional experience and the positive feeling does not progress remarkably.Secondly, life satisfaction from the male undergraduates who's major in Music is higher than female, but the part about the positive feeling and negative feeling is no marked qualitative difference. This comes the male have advantage on basic requirement they are more confidence. And from the musical teaching materials, the majority successful musician are male. With the developing of societal concept, the female especially the 80's female's personality is further optimized, so the difference is limited.Last but not least, the different grade shows the high distinction on the Subjective well-being. The undergraduates who are on grade 2 is the most satisfied, and grade 4 is the last. The complicated factor such as campus life, technical skills, and employment situation affect the result. |
