| In the history of modern Chinese poetic theory, the name of Ah Long has been neglected for a long time. But what can not be ignored is that Ah Long's Poem theory has become a relatively complete system of literary theory.Although Ah long had run the whole gamut of human experience, he always kept his pure essence. He had always been the soldier struggling for new life. Ah Long's poems are not very distinguished among the July Poets. The《Stringless Harp》and《Untitled》includes a total of 38 poems in the《Ah Long Poetry Collection》. Besides that, there is a Memorial Poetry for his wife, in addition to Ah Long's 3 Prose. So there are 42 poems in all. Moreover, Ah Long wrote a mass of classical poems, which were included in the《Ah Long Poetry Collection》more than 130 poems. Compared to his classical poems, the quantity of Ah long's new poetry is not very great. Among the small number of his new poetry, Ah Long added splendor to the new poems in terms of his unique imagination and profound cultural background. From those new poems, it is not difficult for us to perceive Ah long's character.Most of Ah Long's poetic works have been published in the early 1950s. The theoretical works, such as《What is the poetry》,《The poetry and reality》,《Poetry and the man》,《Man ? Poetry ? Reality》, always discuss about the relationship among the poetry, reality and the man, thus it has formed the nature of Ah long's poetic feature. According to poetry's social function and aesthetic feature, Ah long's unique theory perspective and theory connotation have transformed into a characteristic style. Ah long named his book as《the man and poetry》or《poetry and reality》. And each of these names contains the essential elements of his theoretical system such as man, poetry and reality. Ah Long's theoretical work doesn't only confine in the poetic field, but also covers the literary theory in many ways. Ah long has a broad perspective, whose theoretical work always refers to issues of the literary form, literary content and even the nature of literary, however the poetry has always been the soul of his theory building. Ah Long took poetry as the incarnate of the literature. When he talked about literature, he was also talking about the poetry itself, and when he was talking about poetry, in fact, he talked about the literature.Ah Long is one of the important members in July school's poetry. In the 1940s, the effect of July school's poetry can not be neglected in the literary field. During that hard time,《July》and《hope》edited by Hu Feng, were the only green space in the barren field of Chinese literature. During《Hope》period, Ah Long has become a member of elite in July school poetry, and Ah Long's many poems were published at this time. July school poetry, which was contradictorily considered as having a strong sect feature, has formed its own system in theory. In July poets, Ah Long's theoretical system on poetry should be regarded as the most systematic one, moreover he intended to establish a poetic world, which can be detected from his work《Poetry and reality》.He was eager to take the realism as the mainstream framework to guide the proper development of poetry. In the late 1940s, Ah long has almost stopped his creation in order to devote all the energy to building his theoretical Kingdom. Although in today's view his poetical idea appears some biased, his sincerity to theory is undoubted. And his writing pattern from the authoring practice has accumulated some knowledge experience for today's creation. How much freedom can the critic have, when they evaluate the established text object? Whether there is some fatal defects in the self-evaluation system or not? How do the Poets and the literary workers coordinate the relationship between the literature and the political reality? All of those questions are what Ah Long has left us in the end of his life.Although there is much deficiency in Ah long's new poetical theory, anyway it is the first time to make such a comprehensive summary for the new poetry and attempt to build a new poetical theory. |
