TV Sitcom Aesthetic Characteristics And Cultural Connotations

Since the 20th century,situation comedy (or sitcom) has entered the lives of Chinese people and received a wide attention from society as a whole. And seeing from the quantities and receptions, the creation of sitcom and the market seem to show a thriving picture: The photography scripts are quite a lot and the works that have been broadcasted are also abundant. However, successful sitcom works are very little if careful observation be given. What is worse, the sitcoms which could obtain the positive effect were only Mr. Ying and Mr. Shang's works."Follow-up is weak"has been the true portrayal of the writing of sitcoms. The rigid form, the rigid content, the ossified performance, and the lack of genuine sense of humor have become the main questions which will impair the development of the sitcom. It is very important for us to cultivate a stable, mature creation troop. Only on the base of good scripts, can Chinese sitcom move forward on the road of industrialization and better quality. This study is in the view of the shortcoming and insufficiency of current sitcoms creation. From the characteristics of the art of comedy, I try to find out some of the laws of sitcom script creations, and analysis the current audience of sitcoms and the popular culture elements in them, and deeply study the aesthetic characteristics of sitcoms and cultural connotation. This study attempted to comb the aesthetic style and cultural characteristics, from Chinese history and current situation of sitcoms, with the attitudes of cultural consciousness, with cultural research methods, and inspect the unique artistic spirit and culture of quality which follow with the television arts and the development of times, explain the cultural connotation of sitcoms, on the basis of the specific analysis, in-depth understanding of sitcom works.In this study, I elaborate the law of creation of sitcoms from the level of the narrative aesthetics, accepts esthetics and popular culture, and it mainly includes five parts: Part I: Introduction, this part induces question, the research goal, portal frame construction, basic content, the summary of this research as well as significance, the innovation and the shortcoming and insufficiency of current sitcom creation; Part II: The study of the development of television sitcom, this part has combed the vein of scene comedy development in China, analyzed the reasons of sitcom production, for example, the reason rooted from society, from economy, as well as the reasons which have rooted from it's own; Part III: Analysis of narrative aesthetics of the sitcom, this part concreting sitcom works, from the aspect of selected topic, the idea and the script writing, explores the creation laws of television sitcoms, and makes the concrete analysis of its narrative style; Part IV: Analysis of accepts esthetics of sitcom, this part, from the angle of accepts esthetics, profits from the acceptance of aesthetic point of view, understands audiences and current situation of this comedy, and attempts to find the law of sociality of comedy; Part V: The cultural content explaining of sitcoms , this part ,from the characteristics and the status of popular culture, from the inherent property of mass culture, search for included elements of popular culture and make them analysis one by one.This research mainly uses the method of combination theoretical study with the interpretation of works, the method of summarizing, and the method of multi-dimensional perspective. The main achievement lies in the fact that it explored the laws of creation from the selected topic, the idea and the script writing aspect, and made a concrete analysis of narrative style; and has carried on the theoretical analysis, the summary and the induction to the sitcoms.Through combing the materials of the study to the existing domestic scene comedies, the thesis sets up the system of the artistic characteristic and creation theory of the scene comedies. At the same time, from the angle of accepts esthetics we get to know that the acceptance of scene comedy is restricted by the social situation and the consistency of the aesthetic colony. And in terms of people's culture elements, we have studied the common people consciousness and amusement spirit that the scene comedies include. The main achievement and the value of use of this thesis lie in: The creations of the scene comedies have enriched the type of TV play which will bring the new opportunity to the development of the theories of TV literature. The development of the scene comedy will promote the prosperity of TV aesthetics in one aspects, and the prosperity of TV aesthetics will produce the positive meaning to theory and the creation of scene comedies. Therefore, it is important to define and analyze the scene comedy from the meaning of esthetics and culture intension.
