Chinese sitcom has been developed in seventeen years since I love my home turned out as the first local sitcom in 1993. During this period, some outstanding works enriched the form and type of television art. To some extent, it meets in China people's daily needs of spirit with the development of economic and cultural continuous progress. However, only few works could arise sensational results, interested in estate, academic and audience, such as Wu Lin Wai Zhuan. Some works are very popular in certain regions, but in some other place they were not welcome. In China, it is difficult to enter the prime-time for sitcom. The audience like sitcom, but not the crudely, simple and shallow works. They want to watch some new excellent works.On the other hand, American sitcom has been developed in more than 60 years. Some works are more mature and multiple. It is trend and consensus to study more various outstanding art works by comparative. Also, it is our film and television artists' task and goal to strive.This thesis started with the origin and development of Chinese Sitcom and American Sitcom, analyzed the differences and similarities from subject-matter, distinguishing feature and construction between them. From dissecting details and grasping entirety, it will help to take some ideas for solving our difficulties, and promoting the development of the type of arts.
