Bo bai Rebellion happened during the reign of Emperor Wanli in the Ming dynasty, because it didn't last for a long time and had a small scale, the academic circle have paid little attention to it. In fact, the mutiny reflected the institutional problem existed in the political and military system in the middle and late period of the Ming dynasty. Furthermore, it also had a far-reaching influence.The thesis falls into 5 parts, the abstract hackles the former studies on Bo bai Rebellion and other relative problems, at the same time, it explains the main documents used in the thesis. Chapter One analyzes several institutional cuauses, including the relationship between civil officers and military officers, military servant system etc. Chapter Two discusses the concrete causes resulted in the mutiny, and explains some crucial persons and their relations, meanwhile, discriminates the role Bo bai played in the rebellion. Chapter Three makes a preliminary analysis for the great havoc created by the mutiny and fiscal expenditure of Ming government to squash the rebellion. The conclusion not only treats the result of Bo bai Rebellion but also analyzes the effect of the plight in the middle and late Ming dynasty to political situation of Late Ming Dynasty.
