Traditional family precepts were gestated in the patriarchal and autocratic Societies in ancient China, which is a cultural phenomenon that has been made home making teaching children as its basic contents. It reached a relatively ripe stage of development in the Song dynasties, many outstanding documents of family precepts were emerged and spread during this period.In order to fully explore its abundant cultural and as historical data' s significance, this paper studied and gave prominence to the following three aspects: firstly, classified and verified the authors, the author's family background, editions and form. So pave the way for further research; secondly, analyzed the thought and contents, stressed the part that it succeeded to and broke away the traditional family precepts; thirdly, summarized the characteristic of the family precepts in the Song dynasties, this paper also explored the relations among politics, economy, culture and education at that time.
