| As known to all, romance novels are quite popular in the history of North Korea. "YunYing Biography", as one of romance novels, has a good description of the wisdom of King An Ping and his personal accomplishments in the art as well as a tragic love story occurring between YunYing, a maid of honor and Jin, a young imperial scholar with the backdrop of traditional Confucian ideology in old Korea. "Yun Ying Biography" draws much attention of Literature Studies with its rich connotations and well-knit plot. "Yun Ying Biography" is reputed to be the first essence as a tragic novel.Literature studies on "YunYing Biography", as of today, have made great achievements by viewing upon its tragedy, author, indite period and significance. However, regarding the novel's structure and narrations, we haven't made further progress. At present, we are still having much space remained to be explored and analyzed concerning this Biography, therefore, it is necessary and significant to embark on the studies systematically at multiple levels of the novel.On the basis of the research achievements made by previous studies, this thesis, by looking into the model applied for expressing the collision appearing in the love and the author's intention, adopts the research means of analysis and induction to further study on major characters as King An Ping, imperial scholar Jin's servant as well as Liu Yong, the embodiment of author himself for an objective and appropriate evaluation on the image of those Characters.At the same time, it will clarify the absolutely realistic negative theories which have been constantly approved. As the poetries inserted in the midst of " Yun Ying Biography" are additional highlights of this novel, this thesis will attempt to illustrate how those poetries serve as a foil to fan up the atmosphere of each scenario.The thesis is mainly divided to four chapters.The first chapter gives an explanation of the purpose and significance for this thesis as well as research means adopted in the thesis, meanwhile, it summarizes the research achievements made by previous studies.The second chapter emphasizes on discussing the morphologic feature of collision in the love relationship which is expressed in the novel. The first section analyzes the image of major characters King An Ping, Yun Ying and Imperial scholar Jin ) and the model applied for embodying the collision appearing in the love. The second section analyzes the image of minor characters (other maids of honor, JIN's servant and witch) as well as the model adopted for describing the collision of love relationship. The third section is mainly focusing on the poetries. Those poetries inserted in the novel, closely related to the course of rise-and-fall scenarios, get readers fully comprehend the atmosphere in this work.The third chapter focuses on the ideological intention and author's thought embodied in "Yun Ying Biography". The first section expresses people's physical and mental struggle in choosing to pursuit freedom and love or to smear this human nature. The second section clarifies the absolutely realistic negative theory and embodies the author's ideology through Liu Yong, the embodiment of himself in the Biography.The fourth chapters make overall analyze on the first, second and third chapters and make a conclusion to reclaim the significance and opinions about "Yun Ying Biography". At last, it makes a prospect of studies on this novel in the future. |
