Modern Chinese Linked Sentence And Its Acquisition

Serial-verb-structure is one of the special grammar structures of Chinese. The serial-verb-sentence has long been the focus of modern Chinese grammar study because of its complex meaning and special structure. This article summarized the related study achievements since Wang Li, who first brought serial-verb-sentence into our view, and aimed to generalize the major problems in the existing study achievements:1. Should the name of serial-verb-sentence be canceled?2. The definition of the serial-verb-sentence and its difference with other structures of the same form.3. The classification of the serial-verb-sentence.This article tried to seek the underlying factors behinds all these differences. Based on Chinese evidences and teaching requirements, this article tried to define and classify the serial-verb-sentence in terms of form and meaning.Based on basic language study, this article conducted statistics study and analysis on foreign student's inter-language materials and native speakers' language materials, to systematically analysis and summarize the acquisition conditions of foreign students. Through Chinese-English comparison, this article tried to discovery the formative and cognitive reasons behind the serial-verb-sentence. Finally, on basis of comparison, this article graded the acquisition difficulty degree of serial-verb-sentence, and proposed related teaching methods and grading suggestions.
