Since the 1990s, novels on the theme of metropolis by women writers have been emerging prominently both from the quantity and their impacts. This dissertation draws up from angles of cultural background, gender psychology to explore the relations between female narrative perspective and aesthetic pursuit, to ponder the prosperous reason of this kind of novel, and also to survey its narrative standpoint, the value concern and the spiritual demand in the metropolitan context. According to this dissertation, the influence brought by metropolitan space to mankind is dual. The survival paradox in metropolis and the contradiction manifest naturally in the literary work. The women writers face up to the spiritual attribute of survival in metropolis, analyze the connection between individual existence and the times context, try hard to inquire into the mystery of human nature, and realize the self-identification and re-positioning. They build metropolitan literature history from a gender perspective in their narration together with men writers, and demonstrate from a unique perspective how they construct their own history in the social time vicissitude. The women writers' esthetic point of view and the special choice of narrative perspective cause female characteristics and limitations of creation at the same time, so the intrinsic complexity of metropolitan survival still needs to be pondered and inquired. This dissertation carries on from the following four aspects: First, the relation between metropolitan theme and metropolitan environment by women writers.
