| A large number of Research has proved that recognition memory can be supported by at least two separate processes, recollection and familiarity. However ,it remains unclear whether these two forms of memory reflect neutrally distinct process .To address this issue ,we use event-related brain potentials(ERPs)to monitor neural correlates of familiarity and recollection.Fourteen Chinese students have took part in our Experiment, In order to arouse with the related brain mechanisms of each word as much as possible ,We ask all the students to imagine the related events, images, experiences and feelings of each words ,meanwhile , the words were random presented to the left and right of cross. The participants would do the typical old/new judgment in the item memory, while would remind the location of the words in the source memory. Then ,we got three kinds of Old/new effect of the words , analysis the corresponding ERPs.The results show that:(1) in all the conditions indicated the typical old / new effect.(2) compared to the old/new effect of item memory, the effect had a greater amplitude ,abroader distribution and a longer-term.(3) the main differences of the three kind of words reflected in the occipital area in the item memory.(4) the main differences of the three kinds of words reflected in the central area in the source memory ,while had a left side of the trend.(5) The same kind of words in the two conditions ,had a wider distribution ,and the main differences have reached a significant level in each condition. Words from the emotional perspective proved that recollection and familiarity rely on two different neural processing, further developed and tested the previous results, In our study support item memory and source memory depend on the different neural mechanisms . |
