There is no explicit boundary of the answer to the question what is the meaning of"meaning". Because of the notion itself, there is not only subjectivity but also objectivity, no linguistic philosopher has made any agreement on it so far.Searle promotes his distinguished theory of Intentionality in the context of Illocutionary Acts Theory——Speech Act Meaning Theory. It emphasizes that meaning is a derivative of intentionality, then put the rules of speech acts and speech communicator's intentionality in some context into a good one to discuss the meaning of the expression. Thus this thesis displays six types of meaning theories in contemporary western philosophy. By doing this, a new meaning theory is given. Then analyzing the trend of intentionality of the speech act meaning theory, at last it leads to the Intentionality——Context theory.
