| Feature binding is a process that integrates features into an object. It concerns capacity of object working memory. The basic problem for the feature binding in working memory is whether it is automatic or need attention and how attention integrates the feature. Treisman show that feature can integrate by spatial attention; Parietal lobe plays an import role for the feature binding. In contrast, Baddeley point out that features can integrate through the operation of central executive in the prefrontal cortex. So the aim of this literature is to investigate the effects of spatial attention on the feature binging of working memory. The lack of attention must be having different effects for single feature memory and feature binding memory, if the binding need the spatial attention. We also used the ERP to explore the cortex dynamic of feature binding. By using change-detection paradigm, all subjects memorize single color, single shape,color-shape conjunction. Fifteen volunteers participated in the experiments. At the first time, we show three items and ask subjects to memory. After the items disappear, we show one detective item and ask subjects to decide whether it is identical to the item that memory before at the same place. During the maintain of working memory, control spatial attention by cue-paradigm, 75%cues are valid, which can point out the place of detect item correctly, and 25% cues are invalid. The behavioral and cortical potential result show that the storage of binding feature is affected by spatial attention .in valid cue condition, there is no difference between three memories; otherwise, in invalid condition, binding memory is lower than single feature memory. The ERP results show that the role of spatial attention on feature binding is affected by prefrontal cortex. |
