Lu Zhaolin, one of "Four Famous Poets in the Early Tang Dynasty", was a typical tragedy literator in the history of ancient Chinese literature. As the most tragic one among "Four Famous Poets in the Early Tang Dynasty" in circumstance and destiny, his life, thought and creation got the bright individual brand mark. However, when conducting researches, researchers, influenced by the collective title "Four Famous Poets in the Early Tang Dynasty", focused on the whole but neglected the individual, emphasized the commonness but belittled the personality, so that they failed to conduct systematic and thorough researches on the personality of each one of "Four Famous Poets in the Early Tang Dynasty". The present author tries to avoid that insufficiency, and conducts a systematic and thorough research on Lu Zhaolin himself and his excellent poetry creation.Chapter 1 focuses on Lu Zhaolin himself. Based on the collection of his life data, the author boldly queries Lu Zhaolin's illness, and tries to interpret the complex and changeable thought in his life, so as to get a comprehensive understanding of the sick talented poet Lu Zhaolin.From Chapter 2 to Chapter 5, Lu Zhaolin's poetry, including its content features, art features, status and influence, is emphasized. In Chapter 2, in accordance with the sorrowful and resentful features of Lu Zhaolin's poetry, the author explores the historical origin and the formation cause of his sorrowful and resentful poetry, analyzes his creative psychology, compares his creation with Qu Yuan's and Liu Zongyuan's creations, in order to understand his poetry's function of inheriting the traditional sorrowful and resentful spirit, and to indicate his unique achievements to the sorrowful and resentful poetry creation. In Chapter 3, the author makes a concrete exploration of the poetry styles before and after Lu Zhaolin's illness. According to the "illness" boundary, Lu Zhaolin's existing poems are explicitly divided into two periods: 1) before his illness, he had a lofty ideal and extraordinary talents, and he had been entrusted with heavy responsibility for a while, and the style of his creation was vigorous and flowing; 2) after his illness, he was tortured, and so grieved that he wanted to be dead, his poetry bourn was secluded and lonely, and his poetry style trended to being sorrowful and bitter. In Chapter 4, the author has a discussion about the images and the style characteristics of Lu Zhaolin's poetry. The images in Lu Zhaolin's poetry were obscure in colour, quiet in sound, and sorrowful in sentiment, all of which constituted the vivid Lu's image group. In his nearly one hundred existing poems, styles are diversified. Apart from a variety of modern-style and ancient-style poems, there are many poems in the style of Li Sao, which symbolize Lu Zhaolin's status. In his different life periods, Lu Zhaolin chose different styles for creating poetry, which has specific reasons. In Chapter 5, the author elaborates the contribution of Lu Zhaolin's poetry and the influence of his creation practice, aiming at explicitly and accurately positioning Lu Zhaolin and his poetry's status and influence in China ancient literature history.
