The Research On Li Pin And His Poetry

As an important member of "Ku Yin" school of poetry in the late Tang Dynasty, Li Pin has a higher literary position during that time. His poems inherited the characteristics of the Jia Dao and Yao He poetic school and stood out among his counterparts, having a significant influence on the later poets who are representatives of Xian Tong Poem at that time. However, the research studies on the life of Li Pin, The Anthology of Li Pin’s Poetry and the artistic characteristics of his poems are still exist a further exploring space at present.This thesis analyzes Li Pin’s writing experiences, his poetic characteristic, poetry and its communication forms. The introduction part mainly summarizes the current research studies on Li Pin and his poetry, highlighting the purpose and significance of this study and pointing out the innovating spirit of this research study. The main body consists of four chapters. The first chapter mainly studies on Li’s important life stories, including his birth year, the time of being a Jinshi, marriage, career experiences, his sacrifice temple and graveyard site as well as a detailed study of his friendship. The second chapter is based on Li Pin’s poems by collected in the Full Collection of Tang Poems to differentiate his some poems by repeated and wrong collected and some poems’titles, and then make a textual research and analysis to the quantity of his poetry and the vertion’s general situation.The third chapter mainly discusses the artistic features of Li Pin’s poetry, which is also accordingly divided into four sections:the first section is about the analysis of Li Pin’s writing periods ranging from the early time of "obsession by the imperial court" to the later time of "half official and half hermit" in the light of the particular background of the late Tang Dynasty. The second section is the textual analyses of some of his poems in order to display Li Pin’s poetic style of careful and intricate thinking and his another poetic style of elegant and plain. The third section further analyzes the artistic features of Li’s poetry from three groups of poetic images respectively. The final section gives an analysis of the language characteristics of Li Pin’s poetry. The fourth chapter is to analyze the communication forms of Li Pin poetry from the viewpoint of communication, which can show the historic evolution of his poems. The conclusion part summarizes the whole study briefly. It points out that Li Pin and his poetry had played an important role in the late Tang Dynasty poetry, especially the poetry school of "Ku Yin". The study of this subject is of vital significance especially in comprehensively understanding Li Pin and his poetic creations.
