They focus on constructing new thinking, new idea,responsibility,self-belief and value. The development of adolescents' future orientation is related to identity forming. It plays great role on subject well-being and is a protecting fator in adolescents' development. The most fluence theory about future orientation is process model developed by Nurmi. It based on cognitive psychology and action theory, and he viewed future orientation as three process such as motivation, planning and evaluation. The current research is based on his theory, explores the fluence of life events, social support and self-concept on adolescent' future education and career future orientation by constructing multi-variable structural equation model. The research explored the fluence of demographic variables, life events, social support and self-concept on adolescents' future orientation by investigating 536 adolescents in life event scale, the revised version of social support scale, the revised version of self-concept inventory and the revised China version of future orientation questionnaire. The research results were as follows:(1) There was no gender deference in future orientation, and there was area deference in future orientation,Adolescents from city had better future orientation than ones from county.Adolescents from higher social economical class had better future orientation than ones from lower social economical class.(2) The negative life-events correlated negatively with social support,self-concept and future orientation;Social support correlated positvely self-concept and future orientation each other.(3) It was based on a supposed model(social support main effect and moderating effect model ) and two completing model(social support main effect model and social support mediating model ) to explore the role of social support in life events and self-concept,future orientation.Social support had no general moderating effect.Supposed model fitted data poor and completing model one was the best one.Life events had indirect influence on future orientation by self-concept.Social support had not only direct influence on future orientation but also indirect influence on future orientation by self-concept.Life event, social support and self-concept explained 46%percent of future orientation variance.(4) Social support had best influence on future orientation than other two variables and life events had least influence on future orientation than other two variables by comparing their effect size in structural equation model. | Keywords/Search Tags: | adolescent, future orientation, life event, social support, self-concept | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
