Application Of Modern Project Management In The Museum Of Fine Arts Operations Research

This paper attempts to introduce modern project management theory to museum by presenting the necessity and possibility of adopting modern project management into museum operation. It also explores the suitable methods to be used in museum and the solutions to crucial problems in order to resolve the practicability issue. Museum management and modern project management which affiliated to the management theory are two independent and weak disciplines. There has been close association between the two during their practically using. However, no explicit issue has been put forward from methodology. In this paper, the author tries to make an active exploration by bringing out a new and practical angle. Starting from the museum execution by summarizing and subdividing its constituted part, the author searches the essential factors of success. After analyzed the characteristic of project management, the author put this theory into the museum execution. The paper summarizes the core value and constructs a model (IOPC-M). Then, the author refines the whole process into four core elements. During the illustrating of the importance and functional role of these elements, the author also shows a case study of museum using project management. The whole paper uses a various research methods like analysis model, logic diagram and case studies, in order to be reasonable and well organized.
