This thesis first describes the phonetic system of Biantang dialect, methodologically,and compares the phonetic systems with that of both the middle ancient Chinese language and Beijing hua.The initials in Biantang huahave all voicelessed,the primary thread is:å¹³initials of the voiced initials aspirates and仄initials non-aspirated,voiced initials in Biantang hua all disappeared.The sharp initials and the round initials are not distincted.The知庄章groups in Biantang hua are pronounced as those in Beijing hua.The finals' characteristics are as follows:the middle ancient yang-sheng rhymes finals,yin-sheng rhymes finals and the ru-sheng rhymes finals,to some extent,are merged or mixed in pronunciation. The yang-sheng rhymes finals -m tail change into -n-ηtails The ru-sheng rhymes final tails all disappeared.Theå'¸å±±sound groups sound as the same,the曾梗通sound group combined,the宕江sound groups combined as well.The ru-sheng rhymes finals merged into yin-sheng rhymes finals.The evolution of the vowel finals rhymes in Biantang hua are weatening to individual vowel rhymes,which is also the main characteristics of some dialects of Shanxi and dialects of the west of Shandong.There are four types of tones in Biantang hua phonology:the first tone45,the second tone35,the third tone213,the fourth tone42.The voiced initials mainly preserve in the first tone and the second tone.The chapterâ…¥goes to the tonal suppletion,such as differences between the literal reading and the colloquial reading,the tonal sandhi, ect.We tries to describe the different layers of the Biantang phonology and reveal the motivation behind its phonetic changes.
