The Ladies'Journal was published by the Commercial Press every month from January of 1915 to December of 1931, whose affection and sales volume were bigger in Republican China period. The purpose of the paper taking this woman periodical as the main angle of view is to inspect and analyze the city woman's image in 1920s China society from the occupation, the family, the women's movement and the leisure four aspects, then from the political, the economical, the education and the marital family angle carry on the preliminary appraisal to woman's social position at that time.Through the research of the city female figure as well as the woman social status especially in the marital family, we can know that old China was under the rule of feudal ethics and rites several millenniums, and the female were at the lowest level in the society as the masculine accessories. In the 1920s of the Republic of China the society had the certain progress and the development, and it was reflected in the feminine social position enhancement, including that the woman began to have voting rights, the women's movement was quite active, the female education was popularized step by step and obtained the certain achievement, the professional woman also appeared and so on. But the author believes that, overall, at that time woman's social position has not certainly obtained the substantive enhancement, and in old China of semi-colonial and semi-feudal nature, the women in general could not truly have own social position.The viewpoint about male are the persons and female are male'affiliation existed all the time in the ladies' journal. Some male editors and writers with new ideas made great efforts for emancipation of women and social position of women, but because of limited times and consciousness, they still despised of women and put female under male'position.
