There are some words in Zhongrong' ShiPin which are used frequently,such as sentiment, elegant, literary, grace and so on.According to thepreliminary remarks and the examples of evaluation and ranking on poemsin ShiPin, we can find that there are three trends on Zhongrong's ideas ofpoetry, which could be summarized as emphasizing on sentiment, attachingimportance to elegant and advocating literary grace. Zhongrong laid stresson judging poets and poems from the view of sentiment, elegance andliterary, grace.The three aspects are related with the content, flavor andlanguage form of the Five-Character poems respectfully, and what's more,thethree aspects affect each other. It is very available to explain the artisticeffects of the Five-Character poems,and so, is necessary for us to exploremore adequately.Zhongrong thought much of the derivational function ofsentiment on inditing poetry. He paid attention to discuss the creation ofpoets and the characters on affection of poetry from the view of sentiment.Meanwhile, he attached importance to elegance and brought forward hissuggests on the thinking, content and style of the Five-Character poems fromthe view of elegance by the orthodox Confucianism and the spice and tastingof high-class literators. Elegance was used by him to antagonize the illvogue in poetry, world. At the same time, Zhongrong advocated literarygrace.He pointed out that the Five-Character poems should have exquisiteand masterly language form.He admired the poets and poems which havehigh level on literary grace.He was good at analyzing and generalizing theaesthetic characters of poets and poems, and also take notice of thedisadvantage which could be brought by emphasizing literary grace withoutmeasure.The three trends on Zhongrong's ideas of poetry influencedtogether on the appraisement and the Article Evaluation and Ranking onpoets and poems.
