The opera People from Dabieshan Mountain, performed in Local Drama Art Theater of Hubei province, could be taken as a successful example of the most recent endeavor in this reformation. Without the traditional weeping tone, the opera People from Dabieshan Mountain, whose lines are easy to understand, has a fresh and sprightly rhythm. Folk song melody is now being taken as the major source of its production; Szechwan dialect combined with traditional Chu tone, the flavor of this opera is now much more distinctive.
