Appropriateness Hotel Language

Scholars home and abroad have already had expositions of appropriateness of language. In Leech's opinion, appropriateness is one maxim of "the Principle of Politeness" .Chinese scholars have different ideas in which Li Ruihua's is the most well-known. Appropriateness should not be reduced to one maxim of "the Principle of Politeness" but elevated to the most important pragmatic principle. On the basis of Li Ruihua's explanation of appropriateness and Holliday's division of context, the author arrives at a new meaning of appropriateness. Moreover, the author makes an analysis of the communication in the hotel by way of the meaning of appropriateness. For appropriateness has a close relationship with times, it is further used to explain the spoken language in a newly rising restaurant, theme restaurant.
