John Milton is a poet which has the milestone significance in the history of European literature. His two have highly the artistry and the ideological grand epic poem" Paradise lost ", " Paradise regained ", has had the inestimable influence on the later English literature, and even the entire European literature. Paradise lost,the central theme is the conflict between Man and God and the consequent loss of Paradise.Milton's concentration is on the spiritual side of the fall of Man.Owing to the power of Milton's poetry and the scope of the theme, Paradise lost has long been regarded as a classic work of world literature.This article research mentality: makes the development of epic poem as cuts into the spot, to carry the system analysis on European development of epic poem before " Paradise lost ", find obvious mix path from the heroic epic poem to thereligious epic poem, the romance epic poem. As a religious epic poem ,to explain the mix characteristic of Paradise lost. Through to English literature style mix tradition analysis,find the basis that many kinds of literature genre factors mix in " Paradise lost ".To clarify the reasons that Paradise lost with disputable, thus explained how Milton regarding to the tradition of European epic poem is the inheritance and development. Then defined the relations between Milton and the classical epic poem wither away .
