Shakespeare Comedy Genre Mixing Phenomenon

There were almost no studies to the genres of Shakespeare's comedy before 20th century. The past decades have produced an increasing number of studies of the comedy's genres. Many critics realized the relation between Shakespeare's comedy and romance, and discovered the sources of some comedies. But their studies are not explicit enough. By analyzing the genres of Shakespeare's comedy and how he mixed these genres, this essay try to find out the relations between mixing of the genres and some characteristics of his comedy.
