The modern society has many different new characteristics, compared with the former traditional societies, such as the serious utilitarianism, the strengthened tendency of standardization, the increasing social fluidity and the expansion of citizenly freedom. They have brought people's morality life huge shake during the reforming time, which cause many problems for men, such as the utilitarianism of man's moral behavior under the drive of benefit, the confusion of morality under the pluralistic values as well as the spirit crisis along with the lost of ultimate belief. Because the criterion ethic always restricts our behaviors in the living life field, but it does not restrict motivation in spirit field and the significance field effectively, the puzzledom has initiated people to consider the criterion ethics again and yearned for the return of the morality ethics.Based on the modern man who is an important morality carrier, the article discusses the problems of modern value of virtue and the cultivation of modern people's morality. First, starting with the core status in which the modern man should be, we emphatically study the crisis problems in the moral life and the spirit field .we consider and give the morality ethic the proper status in the modern society. Secondly, through analyzing the notation, value and former virtue traditions of virtue and the modern society's characters, we are trying to hunt the new virtue requests for man to match with the modern society, such as justness, faithfulness and credit, obligation and main- steam value morality. Finally, we discuss the theoretic basis of virtue cultivation and the ideal state which the man expect .According to the present morality education situation, especially problems in virtue character, we hunt for the modern virtue requests and idiographic ways to cultivate all the characters we need from all aspects.
