| Okamotokanoko, a writer and researcher of buddhism, enjoys great reputation in japanese literature world. She is deeply influenced by feminism, at the same time, she also works on buddism. Hence, there are a lot of conflicts between the western mordern thoughts and oriental traditional thoughts in her works. The female characters she created are very unqiue. They are not only independent and lively, they are also lonely and suffering in this world. The paper, through some of her main works like flowers is strong, the old prostitute and dazzled goldfish, tries to see into the various female images sofar have been created. It analyzes those images in three different respects: women that break the traditions, feminal beauty and doughtiness of vitality.Futhurmore, it introduces what Okamotokanoko emphasizes, namely independence, feminisim as well as "pain is bodhi"—the core idea of buddhism. In addition, it explains how the two different cultures-western and oriental influence upon Okamotokanoko's works. Her unique idea of feminism is also shown through the analysis of her works in this paper. |
