Concessions Conjunction Evolution And Grammatical Function Of The Cases | Posted on:2008-01-10 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Y Ling | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2205360215451215 | Subject:Linguistics and Applied Linguistics | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | This paper studies the Chinese concessive conjunction from views of diachronic evolvement and synchronic grammatical fuction,focusing on "Jishi" "Zongran" "Jiushi" "Suiran'Mn the aspect of diachronic evolvement,this paper explores the origin of "Jishi" "Zongran" "Jiushi" "Suiran" and so on.Then it concludes that there are two main ways in the process of the grammaticalization of the Chinese concessive conjunction:one is the binding of "conjunction/adverb+verb" combination; the other is the semantic fusion of conjunction combinations or adverb combinations which always use together.The "syntactic structure" and "linguistic context" are the two main facts causing the grammaticalization of the Chinese concessive conjunction.In the aspect of synchronic grammatical fuction, the modern Chinese concessive conjunction regularly use in the declarative and the rhetorical questions ,and "concessive conjunction A,B"is the common type of concessive sentence.In this kind of sentence, the appearing and disappearing of subject reglect some coincident rules.The tautology of subject has an emphatic pragmatical effect, and we can protrude the absent subject through the relation between concessive sentences or the presupposition sentences.Besides the common type of concessive sentence, concessive conjunction can use in some special type of sentences.
