The thesis traces the history of the right-wing student organization Young Americans for Freedom in the 1960s and analyzes the causes of its rise, its proposition and the Sharon Statement, its organizational structure development , its political activities as well as its influences. Besides preamble and conclusion, the thesis consists of four parts.The first part analyzes the background of the establishment of YAF, including economic background, cultural background, political background, focuses on the domestic political and cultural background, especially how the conservative movement affects YAF organization's establishment.The second part emphasizes the births of the organization and Sharon Statement, focused on the analysis of the Sharon Statement's proposals and its limitations .The third part analyzes its structural development and political activities from five main aspects, talking about some features of the prominent right-wing student organization : anti-communism, support for the Vietnam War, promote the cause of freedom, anti-statism, support for conservative candidates. In the early 1970s, YAF become more distinctive .They entered a new stage of development.The fourth part simply analyzes its influences to the cause of conservative and its members.The thesis concludes that the right-wing student organization YAF inspired many Americans to review from another perspective about the negative impacts brought by the left-wing extremists in the 1960s, and inspired people to re-understanding of the traditional culture and values of the United States. In addition, the YAF is one of the most important organizations that initiated by the conservatives. YAF has made an enormous contribution to the cause of conservative in the United States.
