"Annals of Zuo" is our country's first annalistic style history book which revents were recorded in detail.It has much influence on the ancient Chinese essays and novels such as "Shihchi", "Han History" and so on. Some scholars after the born of "Annals of Zuo" had different opinions on it .The people who criticized it focused on the witchcraft-religion culture which reflected by "Annals of Zuo", Some writers in different dynasties like Wang Chong, Fan Ning, Han Yu, Zhu Shi thought it "fabricated", "the empty boasting", "good is strange"and this disobeys to the historical reality. This paper attempts from the culture study angle, through the literature study and the comparison method, according to the Marxism historical materialism, re-analysis this special cultural phenomenon. The paper divides into four parts:Introduction gets to the bottom of a matter and discusses the production of the witchcraft-religion culture and its development in the Xia and Shang Dynasties. By analysing some historical documents , we can see that the culture of Xia and Shang Dynasties is the witchcraft -religion culture from the overall perspective . But when arrived the Zhou Dynasty, the culture of witchcraft and religion started to decline, rational consciousness started to rise, the humanities characteristic of the witchcraft-religion culture started germinating.The first part mainly anlysizes the witchcraft-religion culture 's non-rational knowledge in the "Annals of Zuo",summarizes residual mystical side of the witchcraft religion culture in the "Annals of Zuo".The second part utilizes the methods of the crosswise comparison and the longitudinal comparison on the localization analysis to the characteristic of the witchcraf-religion culture in the "Annals of Zuo" ,analyzes the humanities connotation such as "the moral ", "the ritual", "the trust" which contained by the witchcraft-religion culture of the "Annals of Zuo".The third part mainly analyzes the phenomenon of the wchcraft-religion culture which recorded by"Annals of Zuo" in the Spring and Autumn Period from the historical angle, and analyzes the reason why the "Annals of Zuo" records this phenomenon.The fourth part explains the witchcraft-religion culture's value and its the influence on the literary nature of the"Annals of Zuo".
