National Policy Errors Of The Tito Period, The Kosovo War

The Kosovo area has long been wreaked for the complicated ethnic problems, which became increasingly severe since the Kosovo War that broke out on March 24,1999. This war includes two wars: the one launched by NATO on Serbia in the name of "safeguard human rights"; the other is the "ethnic cleansing" carried on by Serbia on Kosovo Albanians. The war can be traced to Serbians and Albanians' dispute over the sovereignty of Kosovo, the tentative plan aiming at resolving the Kosovo problem within federation range attributes to abortion, Tito who made that Yugoslavia and Albania federation plan be shattered.A series of policies was carried out in Tito time,which caused the ethnic tension. In economic aspect, the "economic power delegation" policy enlarged the area power of Kosovo and thereby provided an opportunity for the separatists; the "blood transfusion" policy not narrowed but enlarged the development gap between different areas. In political area, the policy of weakening Serbia and strengthening Yugoslavia to contain Serbianism aroused the anger of Serbian nationalists who had been striving to re-rise before the Kosovo crisis.Kosovo is still in turmoil, echoing ethnic conflict in the disintegrated Yugoslavia. An insufficient understanding of "self-determination" and "ethnic separatism" led to such ethnic policies as the "absolute equality" principle, while did not take into full account a complete law system and ethnic conflict which actually triggered the Kosovo war. Thus a retrospect of the ethnic policies of Tito area can hope to better our understanding of the war.
