Ancient Chinese hold the philosophic concept of "combination of the nature and the person", which produces a consciousness that people and creatures in the nature could combine into one, and that the internal soul and the external nature have no absolute boundary. They regard the combination as the highest pursuance, which promotes the production and flourishing of the landscape culture. Fed by the culture, many literatis immerse themselves in the mountains and the streams, and derive the art afflatus from nature, thereby creating the landscape paintings with "spirit" and the Chinese classical gardens "made by artifical, but as natural". |
