Chineselandscape paintings and Chinese garden have never been separated witheach other in their development path.In the thesis it is expatiated from the historical angle the intervenedrelation between Chinese classic garden and landscape painting withregard to their respective origins, developments, evolutions,transformations and prosperity. Actually, both of them are pieces of artgenerated from the great nature, expressing the creator's feelings andaspirations. It is also explained that the design of Chinese garden isinspired, influenced by and generated from Chinese painting and viseverse.It is dissertated in the thesis how the dual identity of Chineselandscape painters has influenced the art of Chinese garden. Throughtaking part in designing and building the garden and reproducing thelandscape of the garden in his painting, the artist presents the sameaesthetic and art taste with the garden designer. It is cited in the paper theinstance of Dongzhuangtu authored by Shenzhou, a renowned artist in Chinese Ming&Qing dynasty, according to whom, some painting theorieslike "Combining small and big, virtual and true, veiled and unveiled, aswell as superficial and profound feathers together" and "a dot and astroke in the painting is an artistic reflection of natural beauty" are allexerted in the garden designing and building. It can be concluded thatChinese garden and landscape painting, even though the former one ismulti-dimensional and the latter plane, are closely related with similarmeaning and purpose.
