On the basis of analysis for the true text "Computer world", altogether 1, 500 million characters, this paper attempts to fully describe the original landscape of English alphabetical words in the information technological field. We stride to explain how the English alphabetical words go into and make impact on the modern Chinese vocabulary system. On the same time, we make attempt to reveal the status and function of the English alphabetical words in the development of the contemporary Chinese vocabulary. In the end, we put forward corresponding norms and make prospects for the future of the English alphabetical words. The full text is divided into five chapters:Chapter I: Outline. We outline the introduction of the English alphabetical words, the links and differents of the English alphabetical words and alphabetical words. Then, we introduce the research status and the remaining problems. Finally, we make out the content, significance and research methods.Chapter II: The establishment and processing of the information technological literature corpus. This corpus select all the texts of "Computer World" , "microcomputer world" "IT managers World" in 1997. We make processing and relevant statistical analysis.Chapter III, The statistical profile for the English alphabetical words in the information technological literatures. First, the constitutes of the English alphabetical words is divided into three categories, namely the English abbreviated form, its word and the "eastern and western" word. Secondly, we make detailed classification for the English alphabetical words from the point of view of the form. The classification is not only made in the English alphabetical words but also in the general words constituted of the letters. We devided them into English alphabetical words including punctuation, figures and characters.Chapter IV: The process of the English alphabetical words into modern Chinese vocabulary system. First of all, we consider the letter words have the membership into the modern Chinese vocabulary system. Then, we made a preliminary analysis for its dynamic process, and explain the cause that the English alphabetical words can be accepted in the modern Chinese. In the end, we discuss the impacts of the English alphabet words on modern Chinese.Chapter V: The use norms and prospects of the English alphabetical words in modern Chinese. About the using of the English alphabetical words, we should insist on the principles, which is "need, simplicity and versatility". We should not only treated with leniency, but also prevent the spread of the letter words. From aspects of alphabetical forms of the words and pronunciations, we made specific regulatory requirements. Finally, from the perspectives of the community of the language, the development of language itself, combining of the culture and language, we make prospects for the English alphabetical words in Modern Chinese.Epilogue: In this part the author sums up the research in general and points out the shortcomings existing in this research.
