Meng Jinghui Drama, Social And Cultural Transformation

Meng Jinghui's drama has been well-recognized by society and well-focused by circles of literature and art uniquely during his ten years'drama creation. He is considered as a sole man who can make a great influence out of Chinese drama circles after the Cultural Revolution Period. Regardless of above evaluation,it is very evident that the box-office value of his drama has broken one million. In other words, he has gotten a high appraisal in drama circles and even resulted in controversy. First, his drama embodies different characteristics of different periods; Second, his drama is different with experimental drama and national works.This paper made a research on works, dramatic phenomenon and social and cultural environment of Meng Jinghui's drama from three aspects. The research is under the background of Chinese drama existence and development and Chinese social and cultural transition. It makes a deep and comprehensive analysis on reasons of Meng Jinghui's phenomenon, which does not only analyze Meng Jinghui clearly and the characteristics of national works theoretically, but also explain the problems on experimental drama and national works in reality.
