Folk Riddles - From Oral Tradition To A Text Write Set

To choose the first " Riddle Village " — Qinglinsi Village in Yidu city in Hubei Province in China as the investigation spot and take the local folk riddles which have been listed in the first "National Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Program" as the study object, this thesis analyzes the environment for the riddles, the relationship between the riddles and folk life, the recent situation of the folk riddles and how the local folk riddles carry forward from traditional oral inheritance to the written text on the basis of fieldwork and text study. To counter the problems in the changing course, it tries to find some approaches to better protect the local folk riddles.The body part consists of forward and four chapters.The forward mainly introduces the study background, the current research situation of this issue and research methods of this thesis. Chapter one gives the general picture of Qinglinsi Village, including its geographical position, humane background and the features of the local folk riddles. Chapter two firstly introduces the different occasions for guessing the riddles, and then analyzes how the riddles connected with people's life to become the important way for them to express the village life and how the riddles adjusted the social order of this village so as to form the unique village culture. Chapter three mainly discusses that howand why the local folk riddles carry forward from traditional oral inheritance to today's written texts in the light of guessing environment and people's psychology and why the written texts can be written and actual effect with the concerns of cultural essence, spreaders, governments and mass media, etc. Chapter four is the conclusion of this thesis, which points out different problems in the course of protecting the local folk riddles and presents some approaches to solve them.Through this survey, this thesis tries to arouse awareness of varied circles in the society to deeply think how we should carry living protection on the oral and intangible cultural heritage and provide some useful advice for the programs that had been or will be listed in "National Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Program".
