One of the most influential and most disputable thinkers in the 20th century, Michel Foucault, contemporary French thinker, his philosophic theory is basically a sort of post-modern philosophy. He breaks up the hegemony of discourse in the traditional theory of power, liberates people's thoughts greatly, and offers them deeply enlightenment. The most important problem that Foucault concerns in his theory is the concept of power. Foucault's power theory, which shakes the traditional concepts of power, gives much room for understanding and interpreting the power theory and political strategies. In this paper, the author tries to criticize the power theory from the perspective of Marx's political philosophy. The attempt has great theoretical and practical meaning not only for the research of post-modern philosophy but for responding to contemporary problem. On the basis of the in-depth analysis of the Foucault's power theory, the author re-studies the partial resistance theory from the perspective of Marx's historical materialism. I hope it bring us a new idea of re-examining Foucault's partial resistance theory. The premise of the paper is the way that Foucault thinks about the power theory, and the focus of the paper is how he looks on the power concept. In the chapter I, on the basis of the comprehensive summary of the power theory in the academic community, the author analyzes the deficiencies and resistance of the partial resistance theory of Foucault. On one hand, Foucault's ideological resources were not found. Most studies simply come from the perspective of post-modernism instead of Foucault's whole ideas, and the scholar could not pay full attention to his resistance theory. The other hand, even if someone pays attention to Michel Foucault's resistance theory, nobody studied it from the right idea. And the related studies are hard to continue. In chapter II and III the paper re-explains the power theory of Foucault. And the author detailedlyanalyzes the produce, strategies and system of the power, and he wants to find out the inherent logic and the ideology of Foucault's theory from the perspective of historical materialism. The method he uses to study the mode of modern power is geneaology. The author believes that the power is a micro-power which is also a disciplinary-power, in whose operation appears to freedom and humanity, but also mistakenly believes to be freedom and humanity by modern people. The deprivation of the freedom of modern people is because of the micro-power which exists everywhere and every moment. Foucault proposed a partial resistance strategy to against the oppression of the power.Foucault has a unique understanding in politics. His criticism on modernity is based on the explanation of the world by his power theory. However, the lack of the construction of his power theory leads him not find the direction of the modern power, and the partial resistance strategy can not really be implemented. Foucault can not exactly understand the social norms, and he can not exactly evaluate the value of the community, so that he could not establish a correct outlook on the freedom. However, his perspective has much signification to deepen the criticism on capitalism by Marxian historical materialism and to deepen the understanding of modernity.
