After analyzing a large number of grammatically erroneous sentences, it was apparent that the "shi ......de " structure should be considered as a part of the passive voice sentence structures. To support the hypotheses first research and analysis was done on previously published research. The results made it clear that there exist problems both in the theory and practice. Therefore the author tries to solve the problems by further research and analysis on the Chinese passive structure. As previous published research on "shi......de " structure is brief, this dissertation concentrates on it, leaving the others on the sidelines. First logical analysis is used to find out common patterns in the erroneous sentences which are considered as passive sentence structures. Then the logical deduction is used to prove that it belongs'to the passive system. The dissertation also studies the semantic, pragmatic and syntactic features of the "shi ......de " structure in detail. Based on prior published research and author's findings, this paper enlightens the value of each sentence structure within the whole passive system. The passive system of Chinese is very vast and complicated. The function of the "Ba" sentence in active voice is very similar to the passive voice, making it more complicated for a normative to select the appropriate sentence structure in a specific context. This dissertation shows how to choose the correct sentence structure in a specific context taking into account the semantic, pragmatic and syntactic features of each sentence structure. This whole process is simplified with the help of the logical diagrams and charts.Furthermore, the author has tested subjects in research group and categorized the mistakes. Based on the findings, the author has proved the hypothesis that "shi ......de "should be included into the passive system. In conclusion, the author has formulated a system to overcome the mistakes.
