Wang Fuzhi, who achieved most in philosophy, was a famous thinker of Ming and Qing dynasty. Of all his works historiography played an important part, especially historical reviews. Comments about History as a Mirror is the magnum opus of his historiography.Historical events from the Warring States Period to the Five Dynasties were categorized in Comments about History as a Mirror. His philosophical ideas were illustrated with deep insight through the analyzing of historical events. Because of this, this work covered enormous historical theory of a wide range. The current study of this work is very rare and has not systematized its innate content and general merits. Its historical value was also ignored by most researchers. Thus, there still remains much to be discussed from this work. The author represented the discussion of this work from historical, philosophical and methodological views.This paper can be divided into four parts.The first part is an introduction of Wang Fuzhi and his living era.Historical, philosophical value of Comments about History as a Mirror was analyzed in the second part, which could be concluded from historical view and historical epistemology under the influence of Yi. Its historical and philosophical value was illustrated.The third part is the analysis of the historical value of Comment about History as a Mirror. Historical method was summed up from the view of historical comment and its historical value was expressed.Summarizing the historical value of Comments about History as a Mirror formed the fourth part of this paper, which concluded that this work was a masterpiece of deep thoughts and reason.
